Project summary

Crews statewide will tackle diverse projects from the Berkshires to the Cape, such as trail construction, building bridges and walls, invasive species control, monitoring, sign installation and historical structure preservation. 

Opportunity description

The SCA Massachusetts conservation course is a 27 week program emphasizing leadership, conservation projects and community. It's a partnership between SCA, Massachusetts DCR and AmeriCorps.

Requirements and qualifications

Requirements

Ability to commute to/from Kenneth Dubuque State Forest for trainings and start/end of trail projects. Must be willing to learn how to use hand tools and power tools to complete projects. Ability to lift 50 lbs. & walk/hike 2 miles on rugged terrain. Must be able to serve in diverse situations and various outdoor environments. Willingness to camp outdoors for 9 consecutive nights for all projects. Willingness to take part in community chores (i.e. cooking for crew in the field)

Preferred qualifications

Strong interest in service, conservation and community building.
