Project summary

Engage diverse faith communities in the DMV region in climate conversation, and help congregations of all faiths across Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia respond to climate change.

Opportunity description

Support greening programs that equip folks in Maryland faith communities, identify opportunities for them to speak out on the environmental issues they care about, and speak at congregations’ events on behalf of the organization. Conduct outreach and organize in faith communities, while helping with back-end administrative tasks. There are 2 openings for this position.

Requirements and qualifications

Requirements

A "people person" — make calls, attend meetings, table at events and strike up conversations with strangers, send emails engaging people in our work. Good written communication skills. Worker bee prepared to help with stuffing letters, making copies, preparing light switch reminders, typing up names for our database, printing labels, etc. Organized and able to keep up with numerous projects with various deadlines. Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently within strong systems.

Preferred qualifications

We're looking for folks with a strong interest in climate justice, deep familiarity and comfort with (at least one flavor) of a religious community, and a readiness to learn about and experience congregations of diverse faiths. This is open to high school graduates or equivalent who will be age 18 by September 11, 2024.
