Project summary
Engage recent Maryland High School graduates in advancing a just and sustainable food system by improving neighborhood access to healthy food, providing experience-based education, and developing an economically viable, environmentally responsible local agriculture sector.
Opportunity description
Actively participate in food distribution in the community, and food production activities at Civic Works' urban farm such as planting and crop maintenance. Engage with organizations, community members and volunteers to increase awareness of Civic Works urban agriculture programs and sustainable farming practices. Collaborate with program staff to plan for the upcoming growing season and educational programming, including curriculum development, volunteer recruitment and event planning.

Requirements and qualifications
Requirements
A Maryland State High School graduate and have graduated within the past 3 years. Must be and remain drug free during the term. Ability to lift 40 lbs. Have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and experience driving in Baltimore.
Preferred qualifications
Strong interest in food systems, farming, nutrition, public health, and/or the environment. Willingness to serve in all types of weather conditions (rain, heat, wind, and cold). Willingness to learn, teach, and share with fellow members and community.
