Project summary

The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board Climate Corps program supports the dual-goal approach to creating stable, affordable housing opportunities while preserving the natural and working landscape, all in the face of a changing climate.

Opportunity description

Play a leading role in education efforts including, outreach and communications in every corner of Vermont. This includes digital education via webinars, blogs, and social media, volunteer engagement, and outreach events in multiple communities. You’ll have the chance to apply graphic design and mapping skills to create educational materials, and the opportunity to get out in the field to support stewardship activities.

Requirements and qualifications

Requirements

Be a US citizen or have permanent resident status; Be at least 18 years of age upon entering Pre-Service Orientation or 17 years of age with verified parental permission; Be a high school graduate, have a GED certificate, or be willing to work towards a GED as part of the service term; Has not been convicted of murder or sexual assault and is willing to undergo a National Service Criminal History Check; Available to regularly serve 40 hours per week.

Preferred qualifications

Commitment to the mission of Vermont River Conservancy (VRC); Excellent written and verbal communication; Familiarity with digital communications platforms (social media, website, video, photography, InDesign, etc.); Deep intuition and perception to understand and respond to communities' interests and needs in ways that foster strong relationships and create connection to VRC's goals; Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, particularly as it relates to conservation and access.
