Project summary

By leading volunteer outreach, event management and training, the Americorp member will support and strengthen NYDIS’s newly launched Climate Resilience program. The program aims to increase extreme weather resilience in climate vulnerable NYC communities through supporting resilience building efforts by NYC clergy, religious lay leaders, and congregants who are serving these communities.

Opportunity description

By leading volunteer outreach, management and training, the AmeriCorps member will be working to support and strengthen this program with targeted engagement of faith sector volunteers . The program aims to involve faith-based volunteers in delivering neighborhood-level, climate resilience capacity-building resources to increase climate disaster resilience for NYC clergy and religious lay leaders serving dis-invested communities.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates interested in social services, climate justice, community organizing, and interfaith work. Experience in community engagement, disaster preparedness, or intercultural work. Ability & willingness to work occasional evening or weekend hours. Experience in writing & editing reports, newsletters, and social media. Digital production & design experience, using Microsoft Office, Canva, Eventbrite, Wufoo & social media platforms.
