Project summary

Casa Verde Builders combines green building, affordable housing, and education in Austin, Texas. Over the past 20 years AmeriCorps members built 100+ green-built homes for low-income, first time homebuyers, conducted weatherization and home repair projects, and collaborated with Mobile Loaves & Fishes to construct tiny-homes at the CommunityFirst! Village for the chronically unhoused.

Opportunity description

Members will receive construction training in NCCER core curriculum, OSHA 10, Solar Training Certificate, and CPR/First Aid. Crews will work on new construction, tiny homes, weatherization, solar and home repair projects for marginalized communities. Members will assist as crew leaders of our YouthBuild crews helping to organize and lead projects. You'll be outdoors, rain or shine, using hand and power tools like hammers, saws, drills, shovels. We're looking for go-getters between 17 and 28 years old.

Requirements and qualifications

Requirements

Walking, climbing, lifting. High School diploma or GED. access to transportation

Preferred qualifications

Strong verbal communication skills. Relationship building skills. Willingness to learn. Previous construction experience.
