Project summary
Ready to help meet the most pressing needs of rural Oregon? In this position serving with A Greater Applegate, you'll increase the resilience of southern Oregon's Applegate Valley. This area is hot and dry in the summer, which results in high wildfire risk. Applegate would also be severely affected by a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake. This position will work on addressing both of these hazards, while also supporting economic revitalization through village hubs.
Opportunity description
Working with A Greater Applegate, a community organization, the Resilience Coordinator will work on resiliency planning -- especially around wildfires and earthquake hazards. They will also support village hubs for economic revitalization. The member will bring together partners (schools, fire departments, libraries, etc.) and community members to create emergency plans; update critical communication systems for public outreach so they're more prepared; facilitate meetings and assess needs; and more!

Requirements and qualifications
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Six months of applied community experience AND coursework, OR equivalent experience in 3 or more of these areas: planning or statistical analysis, economic theory, project management, community or economic development, environmental planning, geographic information systems, grant writing. Proficiency in computer use. Pass a check of the National Sexual Offender Public Registry, FBI check and criminal background check of state registries.
Preferred qualifications
Effective teamwork. Ability to stay organized and on-track with projects and processes. Technical skills preferred, including data collection, analysis, and representation, large document creation, grant writing, GIS, website development, policy analysis. Strong written, verbal, and graphic communications preferred. Ability to handle conflict and maintain good relationships. Commitment to volunteerism and service. Ability to create inclusive spaces. Commitment to rural community development. Driver's license helpful.
