Project summary

The City of Flagstaff Open Space Program is responsible for managing over 3,000 acres of legally-designated open space properties. Open space defines the region's quality of life, protects the region's ecological health, supports tourism, and preserves historic and cultural resources.

Opportunity description

Join the the Arizona Climate Resiliency Corps. Research, prepare, and teach 45+ minute outdoor environmental STEAM activities, lessons, and field trips for youth involving open space properties, with an emphasis on the effects of, and solutions to, climate change.

Requirements and qualifications

Requirements

Applicants must have a background in education, environmental sciences/studies, natural sciences, public recreation, or related fields; a strong interest in engaging underprivileged youth during field trips on educational topics of climate change and STEAM topics associated with the outdoors; and the ability to take initiative, keep up communications with partners, work independently on multiple projects in an office setting, and meet deadlines.

Preferred qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with one year experience in public education, project coordination, or volunteer management experience, and to those who enjoy working with the public and demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
