Project summary

Members collaborate with host sites, community partners, and engaged citizens to focus on a wide variety of environmentally focused activities including education and outreach events, planning and executing sustainability projects in a variety of environmental and community-focused ways, as well as focusing on their own professional development and skills growth.

Opportunity description

Activities vary by host site but can include education and outreach, community and volunteer engagement, residential and commercial energy efficiency, Climate Action Plans, Greenhouse Gas Inventories, waste reduction, tree plantings and carbon sequestration, water quality services, and conservation projects including prairie burns, GIS, soil restoration, etc. Members also have a focus on their own professional development and skills training.

Requirements and qualifications

Requirements

At minimum, members must be high school graduates, GED recipients, working on attaining a high school diploma or GED during their term of service. Be 17 years or older (no upper age limit). Pass a national service criminal history check. Hold one of the following U.S. citizenship statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident. Have a valid driver's license or other government-issued photo identification.

Preferred qualifications

Interest in and passion for community-focused environmental and sustainability work, self-motivated and enthusiastic to learn new things.
