Project summary

Liaisons apply their training and knowledge on local decarbonization opportunities to their work with students and families across our K-12 public school communities. Liaisons will integrate climate resilience awareness into their service, to promote youth voice and engagement in conversations about the climate. Liaisons plan and support ongoing community resource and outreach efforts, to provide direct service and create meaningful spaces for community members to connect and engage.

Opportunity description

Liaisons participate in a Climate Resilience Service Learning track to learn about programs that increase access to climate resilience and electric transportation resources for low-income Portland residents. Liaisons lead after school social-emotional skill-building lessons and activities focused on climate change and fostering youth voice, coordinate and host electric mobility education and access workshops at their site, participate in community outreach efforts, and broader community support.

Requirements and qualifications


Desire and ability to work with children and families and ensure an enriching, positive, safe setting; At least 18 years of age; High school diploma or GED A US Citizen, US National, or lawful permanent resident. Must pass a criminal history background check - this position is considered a covered position with access to vulnerable populations.

Preferred qualifications

Any experience in and/or strong commitment to the following: Youth teaching/engagement, nonprofit and public school settings, environmental justice, counseling/mental health, social services, public health, community organization, teamwork, fluency and ability to communicate effectively (read, write, and speak) in a language in addition to English.
