Project summary
The habitat biologist will focus on field work to support the habitat and wildlife population program for the refuge complex. Specifically, the biologist will support sagebrush restoration and management by conducting field measurements and monitoring for the management of conifer encroachment and wet meadow/spring/riparian assessment and restoration. Data management and treatment/ restoration planning and implementation is also a significant element of the position.
Opportunity description
One intern will participate in planning and implementing biological activities, including habitat manipulation. Prepares reports and recommendations for future projects and management. Provides technical advice to managers and senior biologists, and coordinates activities. Assists with wildlife surveys, invasive species control, and refuge programs. Fieldwork includes rough, rocky terrain in various weather conditions.

Requirements and qualifications
Requirements
Driver's license. Effectively communicates verbally and in writing. Must be eligible to serve as an AmeriCorps Member. This includes: Being a citizen, permanent resident, or national of the United States; Being at least 18 years or older; Having a high school diploma or equivalent; Being willing to undergo National Service Criminal History Check.
Preferred qualifications
Highly encourage candidates with an educational background and/or interest and experience in Biology, Botany, or Earth Sciences to apply.
